About Casebook House
Who we are
Casebook House is a small, independent publisher of puzzle fiction, founded in 2026. We make one kind of book, and we try to make it very well: a story you solve yourself.
We started because we love two things that rarely meet. The first is the cold-case story: an old crime, a box of papers, a patient detective and a truth that has been waiting for decades. The second is the pure pleasure of a logic puzzle, where nothing is left to luck and the answer, once found, is beyond argument.
Our books put the two together. You are not told who did it. You are handed the evidence and asked to find out.
What we publish
An Edmund Hale Cold Case is our first series. Each volume is a complete case set in a different place and a different decade, reopened today by a retired Scotland Yard detective who believes that old paper remembers what people forget.
More series will follow. They will all keep the same promise.
Our promise
- Every clue is needed. If a clue could be removed without changing the answer, it does not go in the book.
- No clue is a trick. Clues are written in plain words. When a rule matters, Hale spells it out.
- Exactly one answer. Every case is checked by software, clue by clue and page by page, before it goes to print.
- Help when you want it. Checkpoints tell you if you are on track. Hints go from a gentle nudge to the full reasoning.
