Mrs. Edna Dalton

Mrs. Dalton ran the Anchor Hotel as if it were a small and slightly unruly ship. She knew every guest by name by the second morning and every guest’s business by the third. She gave Constable Pike the longest statement of the night, and was offended when he stopped writing.

Every witness had a life beyond that night. Some of those lives are in the sealed file, which opens once you have solved the case.
